first things first coffee – the story

Our beginnings

Three good friends walk into a bar… By the time they emerge, they’ve written the plan for South Australia’s first and only specialty drive-thru coffee shop…

Fast-forward to October 26, 2015 and First Things First Coffee are opening their doors to their very first customers at their Enfield store.

Aaron Box, James Carrigg and Hana Goltz started First Things First Coffee on the notion that a quick coffee shouldn’t necessarily mean a bad coffee. They wanted to capture the essence of specialty coffee and translate that into something that works perfectly for the modern, time-poor person.

Like drive-thru- but different

One of our main goals is to change people’s perspective on ‘drive-thru’. Why should drive-through mean dull, lifeless, calorie laden food? Why shouldn’t the service knock your socks off? Why shouldn’t you be able to get the perfect cup of coffee every time?

First Things First Coffee is a specialty coffee shop at its core… The only difference is that we have a driveway! We have a close working relationship with Code Black Coffee Roasters who keep our shelves stocked with the good stuff. This combination of product, state of the art equipment and of course our highly trained staff will ensure you get the full specialty coffee experience every day; just significantly quicker!

The experience

We could tell you about our impeccable customer service. We could tell you about our specialty coffee and delicious food. We could tell you about our hand built, architecturally designed shipping container building. We could tell you about the ease and convenience of not having to get out of your car for any of this… but to be honest, the best way to describe the First Things First Coffee experience is to experience it for yourself!

What is specialty coffee?

In it’s most simple definition, specialty coffee (as opposed to mainstream coffee) is a higher quality of coffee bean that is completely traceable throughout it’s journey from bean to cup. To be considered ‘specialty’, coffee must score 80 points or above on a 100-point scale set by the Specialty Coffee Association. Basically you start with a high quality raw product, then apply very strict, scientific processes to end up with an excellent tasting product in the cup.
